How to file a property protest in Texas
Under the Texas Property Tax Code (Section 41.44), you file a written notice of protest with your county appraisal district by May 15 or 30 days after your notice of appraised value was delivered, whichever is later. You can use the district's online portal or the Comptroller's Form 50-132. Harris County homeowners file with HCAD through iFile; Dallas with DCAD's uFile; Tarrant with TAD; Collin with CCAD.
